Children's Ministries

We want to know kids, so kids can know God.

“Regardless of the style or size of your church, your greatest asset to building faith in the next generation is not your Bible study, worship band, facilities, or budget. The most valuable resources you have to help people see God are the people in your church who know God.”

We believe that children and students need to know that they are loved and that they belong before they can really enter into wrestling with abstract concepts like faith, hope, identity, and meaning.

So, we want to give each child and student – a person and a place.

Are you someone who is willing to be that person and help them find that place?

If so, we are looking for adults who are willing to show up weekly in the life of children and teens to make an impact in their lives. (You just might be impacted as well!)

To learn more about how you can be a consistent adult in a child’s life, contact Raquel Lopez.

Here are a few reasons why we need consistent adults:

Preschoolers need a consistent adult because they can be terrified by unfamiliar faces.

Elementary kids need a consistent adult because they will tell anything to a stranger, so imagine the impact a consistent adult could have.

Middle schoolers need a consistent adult because nothing else in their life is consistent.

High schoolers need a consistent adult because they only trust people who will show up consistently.

Join an incredible and growing team of adults and make a difference in the lives of children and students! Ages 19 – 119 welcome!

Parent FAQ's

It’s my first time. What happens when I arrive?

When you arrive at the church, bring your child to the Check-In Desk located in the Day Care Building. Our staff will walk you through the Check-In procedures and then escort you to your child’s classroom.

What do I need to bring?

6 Weeks – 24 Months – Please bring a diaper bag with the following items:

2-3 disposable diapers or pull-ups

Pacifier or any other item your child may need for comfort

Bottles, formula, food, sippy cup, bib

Change of clothes

We provide water and a snack to those whose parents have given permission. It is very helpful if your child’s diaper bag, bottles, etc. are labeled with their name.

Preschool – Children must be potty trained before moving up into the Preschool hallway. You may speak to the Preschool Team Lead if you have any questions.

What about goodbyes?

After you have completed the check-in process at your child’s classroom, simply wave a quick goodbye and leave for the worship service. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when a parent leaves. This does not last long. Separation becomes easier over time. Our leaders will immediately attempt to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return after the service is completed. If your child cries for an extended period of time (around 10 minutes), we will notify you.

What if my child needs me during the service?

In the event that your child needs you, one of our leaders will send a text message to your phone. Please keep your phone on vibrate.

How do I pick up my child after the service?

When you are ready to pick up your child, you may go to your child’s classroom and present your child’s tag number to the leader so they can match it with the number on your child’s sticker. We ask that you make sure all your child’s personal items have been returned to you before you leave the premises.

What kind of security check do the volunteers go through?

We require all volunteers to be screened. Background, legal and reference checks, as well as personal interviews with the Staff are needed to serve in Children's Ministry.

What about snacks?

We provide snacks for all your children, unless otherwise directed by parents. The food items consist of Cheerios, goldfish, animal crackers, and fruit snacks. The only drinks we provide are water.

If your child has a food allergy, please inform our Guest Experience Team at the Check-in Desk. It will be entered into the system. Also, please write it on the sign-in sheet when you check your child into class.

What about my child’s health?

We operate on a Well-Child Program. For the protection of all the children in our ministry, we cannot accept a child with a fever, runny nose, cold, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea or any other signs of illness.

We kindly request that you do not place your child in any of our areas as they are at risk of exposing other children while they are not well. Thank you in advance for helping us keep Oaks Kids a healthy place for everyone.

If you are volunteering with Children's Ministry for the first time and have not yet completed the Volunteer Application and Background Check Authorization Form, please download the two forms from this page, fill them out and return them to the Church Office.
